Our History

A small group of people began services on the second Sunday in May, 1955. They purchased an old Jewish Synagogue that same year. This building became the first sanctuary, and due to the location was named, “Central Assembly of God.”

Rev. Donald Bogue became the first pastor, pastoring from 1955-1957.

In 1957, Rev. Charles Kingsfield was elected pastor and remained until 1959. The church became affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1958 with 48 members.

Central  Assembly of God

Rev. Billy Bell was elected pastor in 1958. During his tenure the church relocated to a new and present location at 3030 F Avenue NW. Rev. Bell resigned in 1966.

In April 1966, Rev. Ramon Booth was elected pastor. Rev. Booth Pastored Central Assembly of God for 31 years. His last Sunday was April of 1997. During his time at Central Assembly, the church had a very successful bus ministry. Rev. Booth also mentored many youth and associate pastors.

Rev. Mark Thomas was elected pastor in April of 1997, and is currently serving in this capacity. Under his leadership, construction on Booth Fellowship Hall was started in 2003 and completed in 2005. He continues to lead Central Assembly in spiritual growth and revival.
